I have struggled with food for many years. As a child I was called a “picky eater,” but in the last 5 years I have discovered the term “ARFID” and it has changed my life. I am not just a picky eater if eating is debilitating at times.
I hope that this blog can help others that struggle with their eating to become more comfortable sharing their experiences and asking for help if they need it. I have a partner who is willing to ask for questions to help them understand my experiences more, and I am learning to share my feelings with them more each day.
I currently work with a therapist, dietician, and psychiatrist to determine the best plan for me, and it will not be the same for everyone that experiences ARFID, but I hope it can shed some light on how I am working through my eating experience day by day.
